This workshop is for handlers new to the sport of agility. Whether you’ve already trialed, or your first trial weekend is coming up soon, this workshop will prepare you for a successful agility trial experience. Learn the most common mistakes made by novice handlers and how to a voice them.
Paula Ratoza, trainer, handler, and AKC and UKI agility judge will review the things you need to do before the trial weekend, what to do when you arrive and before you enter the ring, and what you should or shouldn’t do inside the ring so you and your dog don’t get eliminated.

Paula will share the rules that most often trip up competitors. Rules specific to AKC that apply to both inside the ring and the remainder of the show grounds will be discussed.
General topics that apply to most agility venues will be covered including:
- entering a trial
- checking in before you show
- measuring your dog
- etiquette
- safety
Time will be allowed for questions relating to agility trials
